It is With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved husband, dad, brother, son and grandpa, Edward Donald Johnston, who passed away peacefully and surrounded by family on October 21, 2025. He was predeceased by his father, Roy; sister, Mearl Blackman; and uncle John Tuulari. Ed was survived by his lovely wife Joanne; daughter, Kyra (Josh), and stepsons, Eric and Aaron; mother, Vickie Barron; brother George (Janice) and nieces Krista and Sarah; brother-in-law Jason Blackman (Leah) and nephew Bryce and nieces Sharann and Audrey; brother-in-law Real (Janice), and nephews Brad and Tyrell; and sister-in-law Henriette, and nephews Evan and Keeton (Carley). Ed was born in Salmon Arm, BC, on June 12, 1961, to Roy and Vickie. Ed grew up in the Balmoral area of the Shuswap in BC, and attended Carlin Primary School, then moved to Salmon Arm for middle and high school. He moved to Kelowna, BC and went to Kelowna Secondary School for grade 12. Ed started working in the trucking industry right out of high school, first in Prince George, BC for several years, before moving back to Kelowna and the Shuswap, where he was hauling freight, logs, and gravel. Ed loved the outdoors. He would be out camping and fishing with family at every opportunity. He loved sitting in the boat, enjoying a cigar and beer, waiting for the fish to bite. In his younger years, Ed loved bowling and darts. He played in the pool league and was part of the IPSC hand gun shooting. Ed has always loved cars, especially his Javelin. He loved driving around the Rutland neighbourhood. Ed loved sharing his stories; backyard parties; hanging with his dogs, Buddy and Ace; and laughing with family. In lieu of flowers, please donate to Liver Canada. A Celebration of Life, will be held on SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 8, 2025, at 2:00 PM (PST), at RUTLAND CENTENNIAL HALL, at 215 SHEPHERD RD, KELOWNA, BC.
