JONES , Allan Jones
August 24, 2025
It is with thankful hearts we celebrate this week our Dad’s passing into glory on Saturday, August 24, 2025, at the age of 93. Our home was witness to the quiet but firm and consistent faith of our parents in their Lord and Saviour and we rejoice that he is now enjoying his new body in Heaven that will never grow old.
Loving Father to Larry Jones (Wendy) and Yvonne Clark (Brian). Grandpa to Steve, Kelly, David, Anita and Greg and Great Grandpa to 12. He was inordinately proud of his kids and took every opportunity he could to talk about us to anyone that would listen…that told us how much he loved us. Born to Harmon and Mary Jones on February 4, 1932, he was predeceased by his sisters Helen, Alta (Harold), Kay (Roy), Ruth (Carl) and Shirley (Clare).
Dad took over the family farm on the 9th Line South of Stouffville in 1955 when he married our Mom, Dorothy Meyer. He moved our reluctant family to Woodville in 1970 anticipating that our farm would be expropriated for the proposed Pickering airport. He farmed until 1976 although his first love was always trucking. He drove for a number of companies over the years starting with Supertest delivering fuel in downtown Toronto and selling straw to construction sites in the 50’s and 60’s and ending with the Otter family, for whom he had a special affection.
Predeceased by our Mom, Dad married Jean Pullen in 2005 who has taken wonderful care of him. They had recently moved to Buckingham Manor in Stouffville where they have greatly appreciated the care they have received there. We also want to thank the Hoover family for their loving support and care over the years.
All are welcome to attend Dad’s interment at the Argyle Cemetery on Thursday, August 28th at 10 a.m. then the Family of Allan Jones will receive friends at the THORNE FUNERAL HOME, 109 Laidlaw Street South in Cannington (705-432-2672) from 11 a.m. – 12 noon. A Service to celebrate his life will be held in the Chapel at 12 noon. If desired, memorial donations may be made to the Cannington Baptist Church.
