JOO, Boo Sum Joo

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Boo Sum Joo (Sum) on December 27, 2025, in Victoria BC.

Predeceased by his parents, his first wife, brothers, and sister. Sum leaves behind his beloved wife, Li Qing Hui, his children, Chiew Chia, Nai Chat, and Lu Xi, and his four grandchildren, August, Theo, Tienne, and Cooper.

Sum was born in Malaysia on July 18, 1940.  He ran a family palm orchard before moving to Canada in 1980.  Sum had various jobs in Canada.  Sum enjoyed gardening, cooking and fishing.

A Celebration of Life will occur on Jan 17, 2026, at Emmanuel Church, 2121 Cedar Hill X Rd at 2:00PM. We encourage anyone who has met Sum to come honour his life.
