JOSEPH, George Joseph

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Joe Lamplugh on December 12, 2025 at Lakeridge Gardens LTC in Ajax, Ontario. Born in Liverpool, UK on September 27, 1939 he immigrated to Canada in 1977 and lived a life filled with adventure, humour and kindness. He leaves a legacy of love that his family and friends will treasure forever.

He was a devoted husband to Maureen (nee Vickers) for 64 years and with whom he shared an amazing journey that was filled with love and laughter. Joe cherished his family and leaves behind his beloved children Steven (Celine Dasilva) and Ceri (Jason Mattiussi) and his precious grandchildren, Carleigh (fiancé, Jon Miller), Adam, Kevin (fiancée, Kelly Brady), Ben and Maia.

Predeceased by his parents, George and Evelyn (nee Berry) and sister (Patricia), he is lovingly remembered by extended family members, including the Bowers, Hale, Heney, Knowles, Malone, McGee and Vickers families. His passing also leaves a hole in the lives of the many friends he held dear, including “the gang” in Formby, UK and his post-retirement gang from Wilmot Creek, all of whom enjoyed (and endured) his incredible sense of humour and his willingness to try anything.

Joe led an interesting life that saw him travel the world and excel in many professions. From his early days as a paratrooper (UK National Service) in the 1950’s, the owner of Liverpool’s largest driving school in the 60’s and 70’s and to salesman-extraordinaire in the 80’s and 90’s, he tackled every task with pride, determination and an unwavering work ethic. He received countless accolades and awards throughout his working life and was proud to leave a positive, lasting impression wherever he went.

Joe’s last years were spent battling Alzheimers, but he even did that with grace, courage and humour. The family extends a special thank you to the staff of Lakeridge Gardens for the compassionate care he received in his final years.

As a lifelong supporter of Liverpool Football Club, Joe would want you to know that You’ll Never Walk Alone.

Cremation has taken place, with plans for a Celebration of Life to be held at a future date.
