MEEK, Joyanne Croinne (McCOMBE) Meek – Obituary
MEEK, Joyanne Croinne (nee McCOMBE) – Joy passed away unexpectedly and peacefully at North York General Hospital with her loving family by her side on Sunday, October 11, 2015 at the age of 75.
Joy was the loving wife to George (55 years), a wonderful mother to Julie and Jeffrey (Dahlia) and a caring grandmother to Hayley, Aaron, Chaya and Alyna.
She was an instant and respected friend to the many that knew her. She was full of life and vitality which was further expressed through fundraising with the Junior Auxiliary of the Cancer Society, as a professional fundraiser with Muscular Dystrophy (Jerry Lewis McDonald’s Backyard Carnivals) and as the founding Co-ordinator of the “Run for Research” at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre (12 years). She rounded out her career outside the home by using her marketing and sales skills effectively as a sales associate with Mondi at Holt Renfrew (Sherway). Joy loved family, gardening, reading, entertaining, dancing and shopping.
She was the daughter of the late Glenna and J.T. Lewis McCombe of Ingersoll and is survived by a sister Judith and by in-laws Stanley Meek (Brenda – deceased) and Eunice Hardy (Allan). There has been a private funeral service followed by interment later in Durham Cemetery.
A celebration of life is planned for the near future.
Donations in Joy’s memory can be made to Ronald McDonald House (Toronto) or Wellspring Westerbrook House (Sunnybrook) or the charity of your choice.
