KENDRICK, Judith Anne Kendrick
February 10, 2026
It is with heavy hearts that we, her family announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and dear friend, Judith Kendrick (Judy) on the morning of February 10, 2026 at the age of 83.
Judy was born at the Ottawa Civic Hospital in 1942. She lived in various small towns in Ontario, including: Richmond Hill, Streetsville, Belleville, Thornhill, Orangeville, the lovely rolling hills of Hockley Valley, and her final home with her daughter and son-in-law in Ashton, Ontario.
As a young woman, Judy followed a calling to be a primary school teacher impacting the lives of countless students in grades Kindergarten through grade 8 as well as Special Education. She is remembered as a patient, caring, and dedicated teacher and was loved by many of her students.
During her years in Hockley Valley and Orangeville she spent her spare time volunteering for the food bank and the women’s shelter.
It was in Hockley that she found a new passion – creating beautiful large scale abstract paintings. She continued to pursue this passion throughout her life and encouraged her daughter, granddaughters and great grandsons to express themselves through art as well.
She cherished the many weekend retreats spent with fellow female artists, whom she formed wonderful lasting friendships with. Over the years she generously gifted many of her treasured pieces to family and friends to hang in their homes.
She was a voracious reader who loved to curl up with a good book, more recently with her sweet little furry companion Sophie, who was always ready for cuddles.
Gardening was a love she shared with her daughter, Tracey, and she passed along her lifetime of wisdom of all things green to her.
Judy met the love of her life, Stan late in life. They spent many loving years together laughing and sharing their interest in British shows like Coronation Street and lovingly caring for their dogs, Charlie and Jackson.
She was welcomed into Stan’s family with open arms and shared many holiday meals together with them at the Farm. Judy lovingly cared for Stan in sickness and in health, and is no doubt re-joined with him now.
For Judy, what gave her the most joy was spending time with family and dear friends.
She is lovingly remembered by her daughter Tracey and her husband Don and his family and her son, Michael and his wife Donna, her two granddaughters, Emma and her husband Nick, and Kenzie and her partner Alex, who she loved deeply and encouraged throughout their lives. She will also be greatly missed by her great grandsons, Gibb and Thomas whom she adored and found great joy in being with. She also leaves behind her dearest lifelong friend and fellow artist Donalda and her husband Paul with whom she had a deep sisterly connection.
Judy is remembered for her dry sense of humour and quick wit. Her generous spirit will be remembered by all who knew her. She always had time for her family and friends and offered her love and support, unconditionally.
The family would like to thank the wonderful nurses and doctors at the Carleton Place District Memorial Hospital for the care that she was provided in her last, most difficult weeks. Their support and gentle care was second to none and will long be remembered.
As per Judy’s wishes there will not be a service. A private celebration of life will be held at her home in Ashton, in the Spring.
