KIBERD, Lloyd Carleton Kiberd

Passed suddenly on December 3, 2025 in Oshawa Ontario.

He ran away from home (Dunstable MA USA) and fled to Canada prior to finishing high school. The summer prior to leaving he worked at Bobby Orr’s Hockey camp in Orillia, Ontario as an assistant cook. He was chasing his dream to be an NHL hockey player. Before long (1973) the entire family immigrated to Canada. The family settled in Oshawa and Lloyd worked at General Motors for more than three decades.

His early adult fury mellowed with time and in the end was a devoted caregiver to his mother (Abby) and father (Lloyd) during their declining years and deaths. He spent a considerable amount of time in Arizona caring for his Uncle Keith and Aunt Barbara.

He was the oldest of four boys, a fierce competitor, extremely hard worker, avid sportsman and to some of us a guiding light. He had an amusing dry wit and wry smile. He ran 2 thousand miles each year until his knees refused to go any further. Our entire family is very grateful to Canada and all that it has provided. Lloyd blazed the path to Canada for us all.

He is survived by brothers Paul (Heather), Edward (Yvonne), and Bryce (Helen), nieces and nephews (Bryce, Elly, Elizabeth, Matthew, James and Anne) and his great nieces and nephews (Remi, Zoe, Sienna, Bryce and Caroline). He also is survived by his dear friend, Betty (Arizona). He was predeceased by nephew Tom Kiberd (son of Heather and Paul). He will be missed and always cherished.
