KING, Nicholas William King

A life well-lived came to a peaceful close on January 2, 2026, as Nicholas William King passed away at the age of 94. A cherished family man, lifelong Oshawa resident, and skilled builder and draftsman, Nick died shortly after breakfast at his retirement residence. He now joins his beloved wife of more than 50 years, Olive (Boyko), who passed away in March 2013. Nick’s legacy continues through his children, Catherine (John Fekete), Lucille (David Latka), and Robert (Suzanne Dionne), and his four treasured grandchildren, Bridget, Nathan, Renee, and Eliot. He is also survived by his brother Benjamin, nephews Benjamin Jr, Jonathan, and Anthony, and his many loving relatives in the Maga, Kocur, Andrunyk and Radewych families.

Born on April 29, 1931, Nick developed a love for design and building at an early age. After graduating from the University of Toronto in 1953 with a degree in Geography, he returned to his hometown of Oshawa, where he began what would become a long and respected career as a draftsman and contractor. Over the years, Nick helped shape the city he loved, contributing to the design and construction of many of Oshawa’s neighbourhoods, professional, commercial and gallery spaces, and local churches.

His faith and sense of community were central to his life. A lifelong member of St. George’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, where he once served as an altar boy, Nick later gave back in a lasting way by designing and building the church rectory, halls, and cemetery. His greatest architectural achievement was Tudor Terrace, the Tudor-style home he lovingly designed and built for his family in Oshawa – a true reflection of his and Olive’s ingenuity, vision, and persistence.

Nick’s favourite place in the house was in his workshop, where he spent countless hours on carpentry projects and meticulous repairs. He especially cherished working alongside Olive creating projects for their grandchildren. Nick was also the extended family’s devoted photographer, always present to capture celebrations and special moments. Known for his kindness, generosity, and willingness to help others, he found his greatest happiness in the company of his family and those he loved.

A special thank you to all of the health and personal care workers who supported Nick at Lakeridge Health, Abbeylawn Manor and in his home.
