KIRVAN, Kevin Kirvan – Obituary

Kirvan KevinKIRVAN, Kevin  –  The Lord called Kevin home after a brief illness but allowed him to celebrate two milestones this past July, his 75th birthday and an amazing 50th wedding anniversary.  Kevin passed away, peacefully, at Grand River Hospital, Kitchener, surrounded by his family, his wife Mary, of 50 years, and his three children Andrea, Krista, and Michael.

Kevin is predeceased by his father and mother, Dr. Frank and Helen Kirvan, Mary’s parents Wilfred and Mary Schell, as well as Dawn Kirvan, Mark’s wife, and Anna Bergant, a loved and longtime member of the family.

Kevin is survived by Fred Kirvan (Marie), Kathleen Sehl (George), Guy Kirvan (Eileen), Maureen Kirvan, Mark Kirvan and Myles Kirvan and by many Kirvan nephews and nieces.

Most people would know Kevin fondly through his long career as a hairdresser, which he practised for over 51 years, in the City of Guelph.  It was his passion and love, and his many customers could attest to his skill and love for what he did.  A later passion he discovered, after his retirement, was painting and he found much enjoyment in putting his brush to a blank canvass to see what would take shape.

Cremation has taken place. Friends will be received at the Gilbert MacIntyre and Son Funeral Home, Dublin Chapel, 252 Dublin St., Guelph, Ontario, on Wednesday, October 14, 2015 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.  A Vigil for Kevin will take place at the funeral home on Wednesday at 8:30pm.  The Funeral Mass will take place at St. Mary Immaculate Church, 267 Geddes St., Elora, Ontario, on Thursday, October 15, 2015 at 11:00 a.m.

As expressions of sympathy and in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada or please give blood, it truly is the gift of life. We would also like to say a special thanks to the staff of the 6th floor at Grand River Hospital, for their compassion and the care Kevin received.
