TENTER, Klaus Dieter – With great sadness, we announce the passing of Klaus Tenter (1943-2024) on May 11th, with family by his side.
Klaus is survived by his wife of 30 years, Liz (Addison); children, Jason and Nicole; brother, Jochen; sister, Christel; brothers- and sister-in-law, Alfons, Keith and Sandy; and nephews, Thomas and Stephan.
He was predeceased by his parents, Lore Lotte and Frederich Tenter; and his dog, Eloise.
Born in Poland and raised in Germany, Klaus came to Canada to work at Montreal’s Expo 67 and decided to stay.
Educated and experienced in hotel management, he began his career in Toronto at The King Edward and Sheraton Hotels, and quickly rose through the ranks.
In 1976, Klaus joined Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts, and was General Manager in Calgary, California, and Toronto (where he was affectionately known as “The Mayor of Yorkville”). A man of real empathy and presence, Klaus was the epitome of a great hotelier, and a widely respected colleague and mentor as well. Klaus lived his life with integrity and passion.
Loyal and kind-hearted, he stayed connected with a vast network of friends and colleagues. His open, generous, loving nature touched and enhanced many lives.
Please join us on May 30th, at 1:30 p.m., at York Cemetery, 160 Beecroft Road, North York, to celebrate the well-lived life of Klaus Tenter. All who knew Klaus are welcome.
