Surrounded by his loving family, Lambertus (Bert) Klompmaker passed away peacefully at Lakeridge Health Oshawa on April 7, 2025, at the age of 83.
Beloved husband of 61 years to Greta Klompmaker (née Stoter). Loving father to John (Jodi), Glenn (Isobel), and Karen (Don) Broersma. Cherished Pake to Jocelyn (Gibson), Kirsten (Aaron), Jesse (Pia), Danielle, Leah, Grace, Scott, and Robyn. Proud Great-Pake to Sebastian and Emilia.
He is survived by his brothers Stewart (Anne), John (Anne-Marie), and Tony (Rita); his sisters Lammie (John) Kwantes and Betty (John) Koomans; and his sister-in-law Janny Klompmaker. He was predeceased by his brothers Edward and Rudy (Joan).
Born in Joure, Friesland, the Netherlands, on March 6, 1942, Lambertus immigrated to Canada in 1951 at the age of 9 with his parents Jan and Aafke (née Oosting) Klompmaker and his siblings, settling in Stirling, Ontario.
At just 15 years old, Lambertus began working at the Stirling shoe factory. After five years, he shifted paths and trained as a barber in Toronto. He later settled in Bowmanville, where he barbered for nearly 50 years—faithfully serving the community he loved. His life was rich with meaningful relationships built through his work and his deep care for others.
