KOLIC, Mirko Kolic
August 15, 1946 - August 27, 2025
With heavy hearts, we share the passing of Mirko Kolić at the age of 79, with his loving family by his side. Mirko was born in Drežnik Grad, Croatia to (predeceased parents) Dane and Marija. He moved to Canada in 1971 with his loving wife of 56 years Renata (nee Katušić) and their son Danijel (Teresa) Kolić with the later addition of their two daughters Belinda (Marc) Williams and Renata (Mike) Jakovčić, eventually welcoming his 7 grandchildren Dylan, Evan, Magdalena, Brandon, Maya, Adam and Ryan, which whom he cherished and adored. Mirko is survived by his brother Joso and predeceased by siblings Barica, Kate and Drago. He will be sadly missed by his many extended loving family from France, Germany, Croatia, United States and Canada. Mirko was kind, caring and welcoming to all, many adored his humor and willingness to lend a helping hand. His smile was contagious and his warm personality left an impression on everyone that crossed his path.
Mirko worked at Center Tool and Mold, Dynamo, and then Ford Motor Company where he retired in 2006 with 30 years as a Millwright. Ford was his home away from home, he loved and was thankful to the Ford Motor Company for all they provided for him and his family and the many close friendships and memories he made. He will definitely miss his breakfast group from Ford that got together regularly after retirement, and the many Monday night meetings “Sastanak” in his garage with many of his close friends.
Mirko was very passionate and involved in the soccer community and helped coach for many years at Riverside Highschool and the Windsor Vizas. He was a past Executive/VP/President of the Michigan Ontario Soccer League, a referee coordinator for Essex County Soccer League, and very involved with CNSC Windsor Croatia. His love for soccer and the Croatian community eventually led him to become President of CNSC Windsor Croatia for many years and then President of the Radni Odbor up until he became ill. He definitely missed his days working with his friends to ensure the tractors and lawnmowers were working properly and the fields were in the best shape to play on. He cared very much for this community and all it stands for.
The family would like to thank everyone who played a part in Mirko’s cancer journey. A big thank you to the caregivers, nurses, and doctors from Paramed, Bayshore, SE Health, Windsor Cancer Centre, The Verspeeten Cancer Centre in London, and the Hospice of Windsor.
