KONSIK, Anatol Konsik

Passed away peacefully in the early morning of October 6, 2025, at Lakeview Manor in Beaverton, Ontario.

Born on May 26, 1946, in Wysocko Wyżne, Ukraine, to Eugenia Skowrońska and Wiktor Konsik, Tony’s early life was marked by resilience and courage. After losing his mother at just eight years old, he learned to navigate hardship with determination and humour, qualities that would define him for the rest of his life.

A natural dreamer, eternal optimist and self-taught swimmer, Tony found freedom in the water and solace in music. Pink Floyd played the soundtrack to many of his reflections, and Christmas was his favourite season; a time for lights, laughter, and gathering with those he loved most. He had an insatiable curiosity for life and a love of books, especially The Alchemist, which he encouraged all his daughters to read as a guide for finding their own personal legend.

In 1986, Tony and his wife Elizabeth moved to Canada following his remarkable involvement in the Solidarity movement, where he led the fight for freedom and democracy in Poland. In Canada, he learned a new language, built a new life, welcomed two daughters, and worked for Sears Canada as a brilliant computer programmer until 2005. Known for his sharp mind and problem-solving skills, Tony was often the first person colleagues called when faced with a difficult challenge.

Tony will be remembered for his loyalty, passion, and kindness, a man who loved deeply and lived with a strong, unyielding spirit. He adored animals and sports, especially soccer. He never turned down a celebration, a good story, or a reason to dance, and was always ready with a tune, or a toast. His bright smile, joyous laugh, and signature wave, often paired with warm parting words like “Take care” or “See you”, will echo lovingly in the hearts of all who knew him. His well-loved phrase, “It is written,” will also be remembered by those who cherished his humor and spirit.

He spent his final days surrounded by love, music, and memories, revisiting old photos and held close by his wife, his three daughters, and their partners. The final week of his life was blessed with radiant sunshine and rare, mid-summer warmth in October, as if the season itself lingered to say goodbye.

Tony is survived by his daughters Caroline (Kyle), Cathy (Dan), and Isabella. He was predeceased by his daughter Malgorzata in Poland, who blessed him with two granddaughters (Joanna and Wiktoria). He will also be fondly remembered by his wife, Elizabeth, and extended family in Poland.

Special thanks to the staff at Lakeview Manor for taking good care of Tony during his final years.

A celebration of Tony’s life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages you to honour him by sharing music, raising a glass, and remembering the joy of a good story well told. Donations can be made to the Alzheimer Society in his memory.
