KROON, Cornelis Jacobus Hendrik Kroon
August 19, 1938 - September 25, 2025
With deep sorrow and much love, we share that Cornelis “Kees” Kroon passed away peacefully
surrounded by his family on September 25, 2025, in Peterborough, Ontario, at the age of 87.
Kees was born on August 19, 1938 to Cornelis & Gertruida (nee Beth) in Amsterdam,
Netherlands.
He was the husband for over 60 years to his late wife Anneke (née Vermeulen), his beautiful,
devoted and loving partner in life. Together they raised a family filled with joy, laughter, and
endless memories.
He will be forever loved by his children Russ (Anne Marie), Tina (Kevin), Jackie, and Julie
(Kelvin). Known affectionately as Opa, Kees leaves behind a proud legacy through his
grandchildren Jeffrey (Michelle), Natasha (Kyle), Jordan (Jessica), Samantha, Kory, Bailey,
Casey, Thomas (Jessica), Timothy, Keana (Garrett), and Lauryn (Ethan), as well as his greatgrandchildren Cyris, Ariel, Raven, Jase, Blake, Benjamin, Bodhi, Mila, Maverick, Easton, and
one more little one soon to arrive. He was also a kind and caring step-Opa to Wade
(predeceased), Jake (Sarah) Ezmay and Kaicey (Amber) Maeve. His fur babies, Climber and
Myrtle will miss their cozy time together with him in front of the fireplace.
Kees grew up in a large, loving family, and his siblings were an important part of his life. He is
remembered by Miep (Ben), Wilhelmina (Ted predeceased), Anna (Ken predeceased), Gertruida
“Trudy” (Al predeceased), Elizabeth (Gary), Henry (Tonnie), Peter (Wendy), Josie (Jim), and
Bernadette (Ken), and reunited in spirit with those predeceased: Gerarda “Greta”, Johanna (Ted),
Hubertha “Betty” and Jacobus.
He had a lifelong love for racing and craftsmanship. Kees found joy on the track, racing his
Formula Vee car and Norton motorcycle at Mosport Raceway. He took great pride in restoring
his 1953 mahogany Shepherd runabout which he enjoyed with family on the waters of Lake
Ontario.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Kees’s life on Saturday, November 1, 2025, from
1:00 pm to 5:00 pm at the Bowmanville Older Adult Association, 26 Beech Ave,
Bowmanville, ON.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Kees’s memory to the SickKids Foundation or the
