KRUGER, Gladys May Kruger (Gierman)

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gladys May Kruger (Gierman) on June 26, 2025, at the age of 101. She passed peacefully at the Renfrew Victoria Hospital, reunited with her soul mate husband, Ellard Frederick Kruger.

Gladys was the beloved daughter of the late Alfred August Gierman and Lydia Louise (Kuehl) Gierman. She was predeceased by her sister Beatrice (late Edward Risto). Gladys is survived by her niece Cheryl Risto of Ottawa, and her nephew Elwyn (Beverley Strutt) Risto of Nepean, along with many other nieces and nephews.

Gladys lived on the family homestead her entire life, working hard on the farm she loved. She cherished reading and going through newspaper clippings, a hobby she kept throughout the years. Her memories were abundant, and she delighted in sharing them, often showing her “snaps” (photos) to anyone willing to listen. Remarkably, she could recall people’s birthdays and events even at the age of 101.

Gladys’ spirit and will to live remained strong until her final days. She was vibrant and joyful even on her last birthday. The family would like to thank the Renfrew Victoria Hospital, second-floor staff, for their care and compassion during her final days.

A Funeral Service will be held at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Sebastopol, on Saturday, July 5, 2025, at 2:00 p.m., followed by burial.
