Juanita Anne (St. Amand) Kuiack died peacefully surrounded by family on December 4, 2025. While a sad occasion of momentous loss, it is also a time of gratitude and celebration of a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Survived by her loving children Michael (Barbie), Colleen Cook (Kevin), Lynda Hill (Steve), and Stephen (Phoenix) and by the grandchildren who were the joy of her life: Ariel Kuiack; Gibson and Kasha Cook; and Gabriel and Lincoln Kuiack. Also survived by her brother Lloyd St. Amand (Helen) and her brother Tom St. Amand (Cathy), as well as by brother-in-law Pat Kuiack and sister-in-law Hildred Kuiack and by numerous nieces and nephews. Pre-deceased by her parents Rolland and Janet St. Amand, her husband August, her sister Lynne, and her infant brother Tommy. Born in Cornwall, Ontario in 1941, Juanita grew up in Sarnia and attended St. Joseph’s elementary school and St. Patrick’s high school where she developed friendships that she maintained and cherished throughout her life. After teachers’ college in Ottawa, Juanita returned to Sarnia and started her tremendous marriage of 46 years with her beloved August and together they raised four children who were blessed to have them as parents and who wish to emulate the superior example set. Juanita was a gifted teacher who touched the lives of countless students and fellow educators throughout Lambton County, notably at Holy Rosary Catholic School in Wyoming. A woman of faith, hers was a generous life of active volunteering including for Heart and Stroke Foundation and the Terry Fox Foundation. Juanita enjoyed camping, reading, newspaper puzzles, daily walks and time spent near the water at Canatara Beach and under the Bluewater Bridge. She was an avid traveller, experiencing wonderful times with August across Canada from Victoria, BC to St. John’s, Newfoundland and overseas to Europe and Asia, then travelled independently with confidence into her 80s. Mom enjoyed the time she spent with her many close friends, all of whom enriched her life in so many ways – friends recall with fondness her compassion, loyalty and optimism. Above all was the pleasure she derived from and provided to her five grandchildren who will never ever forget Grandma’s love, wisdom and warmth. Excellent care was provided by doctors and nurses at Bluewater Health and in London since a cancer diagnosis one year ago. Family and friends will be received from 3:00 pm-6:00 pm Sunday, December 7, 2025, at SFH-McKenzie Blundy Chapel, 431 Christina Street North, Sarnia. A funeral service will be celebrated at 10:00 am Monday, December 8, 2025 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, 239 Stuart Street, Sarnia. Interment to follow in Our Lady of Mercy Cemetery, Sarnia. Sympathy may be expressed through donations to the Terry Fox Foundation http://www.terryfox.org (cheques only when donating at the funeral home please).
