KWONG, Ying Lin Kwong
February 4, 2026
A devoted matriarch whose quiet strength and generous heart shaped her family for generations, passed away peacefully on February 4, 2026, in Toronto, Ontario, at the age of 94.
Born into a world of challenge, Ying Lin was the steadfast center of her family. As a dedicated homemaker for her husband and four children, she tirelessly sought ways to provide essential support for a family of six. She navigated life’s difficulties with remarkable poise, a pillar of calm who rarely raised her voice.
Ying Lin believed in living with purpose and joy. Her early years of prudent saving were balanced by a well-earned appreciation for life’s finer pleasures once circumstances allowed. She found great happiness in the lively company of family gatherings, the strategic play of mahjong, and the spirited entertainment of casino slots, which she approached with characteristic moderation and a sense of fun.
Her legacy is lovingly preserved in the cherished rituals she created, most notably the simmering pots of delicious and nourishing soup that warmed the bodies and souls of her family for decades. Her passing leaves a profound void at the table and in the hearts of all who knew her.
Predeceased exactly five years ago by her beloved husband, Ying Lin is survived by her three children Sandra, Mimi (Tad), Chee (Amy), two grandchildren, and four great- grandchildren, all of whom will forever miss her gentle presence, unwavering love, and insightful wisdom.
The family extends their deepest gratitude to the compassionate teams at the Markham Palliative Home Care service and Yee Hong Hospice for their exceptional care and support.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Ying Lin’s memory may be made to the Yee Hong Community Wellness Foundation or the Scarborough Health Network Foundation.
She will be forever remembered for her enduring love, her serene spirit, and the nourishing legacy she built, bowl by bowl.
