LACKPATIAH, Jacquelyn Lackpatiah

With heavy hearts and profound sadness, we announce the sudden passing of Jacquelyn (Jackie) Marion Kathleen Lackpatiah (nee DesEtages), our beloved wife, mother, daughter, grandmother, sister, friend and confidant to many, on May 8, 2025 at the age of 79.

Jackie was born in the beautiful islands of sweet, sweet T&T (Trinidad and Tobago) in 1946, a cherished daughter, to the late Theresa King, Percival King and Ruthven Callendar. Jackie came from a family deeply rooted in compassion, whose kindness and willingness to help others was well known. It was this upbringing that shaped her selfless dedication to those around her.

She moved to Toronto in 1969, and it became not only her new home, but the place where she met her devoted husband. Throughout her life, Jackie held many roles, including working as a bank teller, but none compared to the fulfillment she found in nurturing children and supporting their families as a foster parent.

Jackie leaves behind her devoted husband, Urban, of 53 years. Beloved late sister Gail, her sister Diane, late sister Claudette and her brother Stokely. Her loving children Jude, Keisha (Atu), Sienna (Kyle), Brittany, Julissa and Camille. Adoring grandmother to her three precious grandchildren, Jarrett, Avery and Jaivyn, who brought her endless joy and pride and second mother to Shandelle, Devonté and Reann.

Jackie’s love knew no bounds – her dedication and concern for her family led her to always placing their needs above her own. She fostered many children, offering them and their families, stability and unconditional support. Her legacy lives on in the values she instilled: kindness, commitment, integrity and unfaltering love rooted in family.

Jackie was a woman of unwavering faith in God and immense strength. She will be most cherished for her honesty, her generous heart, her loyal nature and her ability to speak her mind. Her presence was undeniable, guided in every step by her strong moral compass.

Jackie will be remembered by many. She was a fierce, one of a kind woman who will be extremely missed. Her spirit will forever live in our hearts and the memories forever etched in our minds.
