It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Ivan Norman Lafond on May 22nd, 2025.

Ivan was born on September 8, 1963, at North York General Hospital in Toronto, Ontario, to Gerard and Janice Lafond (née Barker). In 1969, Ivan moved with his mother and two brothers to Devlin, Ontario, and later settled in Fort Frances, where he completed his high school education. He then relocated to Thunder Bay to attend Lakehead University, where he graduated with an Honours Degree in Art.

Ivan remained in Thunder Bay where he lived and worked until his passing. His passion for art was evident in the many sketches and drawings he created over the years, with his final piece being a special Christmas gift for his mother.

Ivan was known for his kindness and generosity—always willing to give to those in need, even at his own expense. He was predeceased by his father, Gerard, and grandparents Percy and Eileen Barker. He is survived by his loving mother Janice, brothers Rick and Paul (Stacy), stepmother Claudette, sisters Rachel (Luc) and Billie Jo, special friend Tina, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Ivan will be deeply missed by all who knew him. A small graveside ceremony will be held at Box Alder Cemetery on June 26, 2025, at 11 a.m.
