It is with the deepest sorrow we say goodbye to a father, grandfather and brother, Jean Guy Lalonde on Thursday, July 31st, 2025, at Woodland Villa at the age of 88. Beloved husband of the late Carol Lalonde (née Delorme). Loving father of Pierre Lalonde (Laurie Keith), Lise Lalonde (Frank Wood) and stepfather to Laura Lee Eaman. Cherished grandfather of Melissa, Adam, Cody and Jessie. Jean Guy will be missed by sisters Cécile Lalonde (Richmond Monette) and Raymonde Samson (Robert), brother Raymond Lalonde (Sandra) and many nieces, nephews, friends and extended family. Pre-deceased by his parents Jean-Marie & Alice Lalonde (née Gagnon) and his sister Jeanine Marleau (late Marcel).
Born in Ste-Anne-de-Prescott, ON, Jean Guy moved to Cornwall with his family as a young man. He began his career in the banking industry working at the Bank of Montreal. He then moved on to work for Brisson Insurance and Real Estate where he worked in the insurance department. In 1960, Jean Guy opened his own insurance business that operated out of the family home. He later moved his office to Montreal Road where the business thrived. Jean Guy always felt Lalonde Insurance Brokers was one of his greatest accomplishments.
For fun, Jean Guy enjoyed riding his Harley-Davidson, spending many hours on the road traveling with family and friends. Destinations included the East Coast of Canada, Florida and even a road trip to Manitoba. Another passion of his was music. An avid musician, Jean Guy loved playing the trumpet and occasionally the saxophone. He cherished the times he played music with his sister Cécile and brother-in-law Richmond. Jean Guy was also a member of the Carm Aubé Big Band and later, the Seaway Winds. He even played at Club Med in the Caribbean. A huge fan of hockey, he held season tickets for the Cornwall Royals for many years, and at one point was even part owner of the Royals.
As per Jean Guy’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held at Blessed Sacrament Church, 321 Tollgate Rd E, Cornwall, ON Thursday, September 4th, 2025 at 11 am, followed by a luncheon in the Parish Hall. Arrangements are under the care of Wilson Funeral Home, (613-938-3888). For those who wish, memorial donations may be made to the Parkinson’s Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society.
