LAUNDRE, Ruth Doreen Laundre

It is with extreme sorrow and broken hearts that we announce the passing of our beautiful mother, Ruth Doreen Laundre, on September 5, 2025, at the age of 93. Born August 17, 1932 in Belleville, Ontario, she moved to Oshawa in the 1960’s and lived there until she passed. Ruth was predeceased by her parents, siblings and partner Everett. She is survived by her beloved daughters Bonnie Nicholson (Hugh), Chyrrel Laundre (Frank Wilken), and Debbie Cannon (John).

Ruth’s grandchildren, Ian Nicholson, Katie Nicholson (Manuel), Lauren Tomchick (Keneil Morrison), Michael Tomchick (Justine), Hunter Wilken (Jayla Hernandez), Nicole Phillips and John Phillips will always remember her as a loving, funny, grandma. Ruth has also left behind her great-grandchildren Isabella Tomchick, Ariya Tomchick, Kai Nicholson, Finn Nicholson, Arabella Nicholson, Landon Phillips, Harley Phillips and Josiah Morrison.

A strong, independent woman, Ruth had a wonderful sense of humour. She loved to dance, decorate her apartment, watch the news and game shows. She enjoyed walking downtown and window shopping. She was a beautiful woman who always took the greatest care with her clothing and makeup. Everyone who met her couldn’t believe her age, often guessing she was 20 years younger than she was.

Ruth was a firm believer in the power of prayer and felt the Lord guided her, especially during the most troubling times in her life.

A wonderful mother and best friend to her daughters Bonnie, Chyrrel and Debbie, they will feel lost without her and keep her tucked safely in their hearts until they meet again.

A private service will take place on September 27th at Mt. Lawn Cemetery in Whitby.
