LAWTON, Janet Anne Lawton

At Riverview Gardens Nursing Home, on Thursday, June 5th, 2025, Mrs. Janet Lawton of Chatham passed away peacefully in her sleep in her 91st year.

Dear mother of Bradley & Krystal Lawton of Mobile, Alabama, and the late Mary Ann Lawton-Betts. Cherished grandma of Christopher and Candace. Predeceased by her husband Beverley (April 2020), parents Allen and Helen Lundy, stepfather Ingram Strain, and her siblings James, John, Robert, and Mary. She was a beloved aunt to many nieces and nephews on the Lundy and Lawton sides of the family.

Janet was an amazing woman who held three successful careers — with Bell Canada, as a devoted housewife and mother, and later with the Government of Canada. She was known for her cooking, her charitable heart, and her grace. She was one of the last old-school moms who could whip up a lunch for a bunch of hungry boys in no time — and her carrot cake was legendary!

A private committal service will be held at Maple Leaf Cemetery in Chatham.

In lieu of donations, the family invites you to take your mom or a loved one out for dinner. Don’t skimp on the sides. Tip your wait staff. Hug them a little longer.
