LEBARR, Daniel Brian Lebarr – Obituary
LEBARR, Daniel Brian –
Dan passed away peacefully at the age of 77 on Tuesday, October 6, 2015 in Burlington, Ontario.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Anne, his children Kathy, Mike, and Nicole (Paul), his sister Katherine (Bill), and his sister-in-law Jenny.
Dan was predeceased by his brothers Harold (Sophie) and Earl. He will be greatly missed by his many nieces, nephews, extended family, friends, and beloved pet dogs Truffles and Piiwii.
Dan was born in Sault Ste. Marie, on November 4th, 1937, and grew up in the Leaside neighbourhood of Toronto. In early life, he proudly spent 10 years on the Scarborough Fire Department as a firefighter, and subsequently worked as National Merchandising Manager for Benson & Hedges, at which time he met his beloved wife Anne.
Dan and Anne moved to Montréal for five years and returned to Toronto, where Dan launched a successful 30-year career in real estate.
Dan had great integrity and worked hard for anything he believed in. He was passionate about golf, dedicating over 30 years to perfecting his game. He was an avid reader, enjoying thrillers and mystery novels, and instilled a love of reading in his daughters Kathy and Nicole. A longtime fan of the Montréal Canadiens, Dan passed his Habs team spirit on to his son Mike. Dan was a devoted family man, a true animal lover, and a genuine friend to those in need. He will be missed by all those who knew him.
We would like to express the utmost gratitude to Dan’s physician Dr. Tiffany Bursey, and the entire team at the Halton McMaster Family Health Centre. We also acknowledge the excellent palliative care and support received from the Community Care Access Centre and St. Elizabeth Health Care.
Visitation will be held at Glen Oaks Memorial Chapel, 3164 Ninth Line, Oakville, Ontario on Friday, October 9th from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. A celebration of Dan’s life will be held in the Glen Oaks Chapel on Saturday, October 10th at 10 a.m.
Donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
