NICASTRO, Leopoldo Nicastro Obituary
NICASTRO, Leopoldo – Peacefully surrounded by family, Leopoldo Nicastro passed away on Sunday, October 4, 2015 at the age of 86 at Villa Marconi.
Beloved husband of Diane (nee O’Malley). Loving father of Silvano (Lynda), Marie-Hélène and Patrick (Karine). Most cherished Nonno of Lylou, Maxim, Sara, Jasmine and soon-to-be granddaughter Gabriella.
Son of the late Pasquale and Irma Nicastro and son-in-law of the late Elvina O’Malley and late brother-in-law, Michel O’Malley and aunt-in-law Claire Labelle. Dearly missed by many sisters, brothers and in- laws: Maria, Lydia, late Ugo, Alessandro, Salvatore, Teresa, Frank, Rocco, Nella and Giuseppe, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Born in Cleto, Italy, Leopoldo immigrated to Canada in 1959 and soon after, he was involved in delicatessen businesses. He worked for IGA in Hull, during which time he won many awards, then had his own business: Nicastro Delicatessen in Alta Vista.
Thereafter, he worked with his brothers for Nicastro Bros. Food. His passion and creativity for gardening, upkeeping flowers, growing fruits and vegetables really shined through him. His love for children was manifested throughout his life. He adored his wife Diane through so many thoughtful and romantic gestures right up until the end of his life.

Family and friends may pay respects at the Kelly Funeral Home – Somerset Chapel, 585 Somerset St. W, Ottawa, Ontario on Friday, October 9th from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Funeral Saturday, October 10th to St. Anthony’s Church, 427 Booth Street, Ottawa, Ontario for Mass of Christian Funeral at 10:00 a.m.
In memoriam donations may be made to the Parkinson Society of Canada or for Villa Marconi Long Term Care Centre.
