LEPUR, Draginja Lepur
September 12, 1940 - January 18, 2026
In Loving Memory of Draginja (Dragica) Lepur
She passed away peacefully at the age of 85 in Victoria, British Columbia.
Born in Nunic, Croatia, to Joso and Milica Kardum, Draginja was the oldest of eight siblings: Nikola (Danka), Radojka, Marija (the late Marko), Gordana (Dane), Bore (Rada), and her late siblings Marko (Josie) and Nevenka.
Draginja’s life was shaped by courage, determination, and an unwavering commitment to family. In 1966, she left her homeland to be with her husband, Joso Lepur, in France. Their journey did not end there. Seeking greater opportunities and a better future, they later immigrated to Canada with their son, Radoslav, laying the foundation for generations to come.
Draginja was a woman of quiet and enduring strength and unshakable resolve. She believed wholeheartedly that family came first and lived that belief through action, playing a central role in helping relatives and friends establish themselves in Canada. She served as their sponsor, offering practical support, care, and encouragement as they built new lives. Through her efforts, she helped others take root and flourish in a new country.
She was known for her hospitality and generosity. Her home was a place of gathering, support, and belonging, marked by warmth, shared meals, and a deep sense of welcome that reflected the values she lived by throughout her life.
In later years, Draginja shared her life with her partner, Eddie Toth, with whom she enjoyed companionship, support, wine tastings, travel and watching Wheel of Fortune. Draginja was very gracious in including Eddie in her family and the Croatian community. Eddie’s two children, David and Amanda and their families appreciated this about her.
She is remembered by her children, Radoslav (Carmen) and Cindy (Eunice); her beloved grandchildren, Natasha (Adam), Brittni, Mychael, Matthieu, Maximillian, and Saoirse; and her cherished great-grandchild, Anastazja.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, January 30th at 11:30 a.m. at Saint Leopold Mandić Croatian Church. Entombment will follow at Royal Oak Burial Park at 1:30 p.m. A reception will be held in the Sequoia Centre at McCall Gardens following the entombment.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff at Saanich Peninsula Hospital Palliative Care for their professionalism and compassionate care, and to Dr. Lush for her support and kindness.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Croatian Catholic Church or the Canadian Cancer Society.
Draginja will be remembered with deep respect and gratitude by her family, friends, and the Croatian community she held so dear. May her memory be eternal.
Condolences may be offered to the family below.
