Peacefully passed away on Friday, May 16, 2025 at Lakeridge Health Oshawa, in his 83rd year.

Beloved husband of Emily for 59 wonderful years. Loving father of Shelly Cook (Larry) and Tracy Lightfoot. Cherished grandfather of Mitchell (Jocelyn) and Stefanie (Mitchell) and great-grandfather of Jason and Parker. Predeceased by his siblings Anne and Peter. Denis will be sadly missed by his nephews, nieces, his family in Stupuva and Jakubov, Slovakia, and many friends.

After a fulfilling career at IBM, Denis embraced retirement with the same warmth and generosity that defined his life. He found happiness in the simple pleasures of each day – tending to his garden, losing himself in a good book, preparing home cooked meals, and volunteering in the community. His apple pies, became something of a legend among family and friends. But what truly lit up his days was time spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whose love and laughter brought endless light to his life.

Cremation will take place. A private family interment will follow at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery.
