LIM, Choy Foon Lim

Lim, Choy Foon, 79, of Amherstburg, passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, surrounded by family.

The sixth of eight children, Choy Foon was born to Chen, Yin Xin and Lin, Rong Hui, in Chungshan, China. She was a loving wife and, more recently, a devoted caregiver to her husband of 55 years, Lie, Hon Yun; a wonderful mother to her daughters Chun Ngan (and her husband Justin) and Beatrix (and her husband Robert); and a beloved grandmother to her four grandchildren Nicholas, Wen Shi, Aidan, and Portia.

Choy Foon completed medical school in Huizhou, China, in 1968, where she met Dr. Lie, Hon Yun during her residency at Huizhou Central Hospital. The two were married in 1970. She worked as a physician until 1976, when they moved to Hong Kong to raise their family. In 2014, they became permanent residents of Canada and made Amherstburg, Ontario their home to be closer to their daughters and grandchildren.

Choy Foon was active in volunteering, always eager to help, with an adventurous spirit and a lifelong love of learning. She enjoyed traveling, learning new languages and dialects, and experiencing different cultures. She taught her children to seek knowledge and to pursue new experiences throughout life.
