LISTER, Kenneth Walter Lister

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Kenneth Lister, husband of the late Helen Lister, at the Carlingwood Retirement Community.

Ken is survived by his only son David and his sister-in-law Jean McNally. He was predeceased by his cherished brother Alan and sister-in-law Eva Cunningham. He also leaves behind several nieces and nephews in Ottawa and the Toronto area.

Ken was born in the small town of Melville, Saskatchewan in 1925 and moved to Ottawa as a young boy when his family decided to move east.

Ken had a forty-year career at the Ottawa Civic Hospital beginning as a teenager working on weekends. He eventually became Director of Personnel and retired in 1985 as Vice President of Patient Services.

Ken was a member of the Kiwanis Club of Sage and volunteered with the Parkinson Society of Ottawa. He was also an active long-time member of St. Giles Presbyterian Church in the Glebe.

Ken and Helen had season tickets to the Ottawa Rough Riders; enjoying the summer and fall games at the former Frank Clair Stadium. They also enjoyed watching the Ottawa Senators. Their best times were with family and friends at the summer cottage on the Bonnechere River near Deacon, Ontario.

His son wishes to thank the compassionate and dedicated staff at the Carlingwood Retirement Community, Carefor and Bayshore Home Care for providing care and support to Ken over the past three years. Also special thanks to Dr. Howard Cohen for his dedicated care and comfort to Ken during the past three difficult months.

A Memorial Service will be held in the Spring. For those who wish, donations may be made to the charity of your choice in memory of Ken.
