LOIACONO, Guiseppe Loiacono
September 7, 1943 - November 5, 2025
With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our beloved Giuseppe who passed away peacefully at home on November 05, 2025, surrounded by his loving family, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Toritto, Italy on September 07, 1943.
He will be dearly missed by his wife of 51 years, Rosa; his children Dominic (Elena), Catherine (Martin), and Sabrina (Josh); and his grandchildren Esmae, Simon and Jeremy. Predeceased by his parents Domenico and Caterina Loiacono, and is lovingly remembered by his siblings Angela, Camelia, and Nicola and his nieces and nephews.
He spent his childhood working in the family business and served as a sergeant in the Italian Army. In 1966 he immigrated to Oakville, Canada and eventually settled in Victoria where met the love of his life, Rosa. Giuseppe was devoted to his family, instilling in his children the values of self-reliance, hard work, and perseverance. In recent years, he found immense joy in being a Nonno to his grandchildren.
Known to many as Joe, he was generous, loving, and full of life. With his charm and warm smile, he made everyone feel welcome. His door was always open, and if you stayed for dinner, heβd likely bring you to the cellar to share his homemade wine. He loved cruising, gardening, motorcycles, and reading, and could often be found at a coffee shop with a newspaper in hand, chatting about life, cars, and everything in between.
Guiseppe was blessed with a sharp mind and an entrepreneurial spirit. His work ethic was unmatched, and his genius was in his hands. As a builder, Guiseppe left his mark across Victoria, building homes with his unique finishing touch. Never afraid of a challenge, he pushed boundaries, building Canadaβs skinniest house.
As President of the Victoria Italian Assistance Centre in the 1980s, he led efforts to secure the land for the Leonardo Da Vinci Centre from the provincial government and championed constitutional changes granting women full membership and voting rights.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to Dr. Paul Kachan for his compassionate care throughout Giuseppeβs journey.
Rest peacefully. You were deeply loved and will be missed beyond measure. Your legacy lives on through your family and all those whose lives you touched.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
