LOMBARDI , Norma Meridionale nee Lombardi
December 21, 1922 - August 9, 2025
It is with profound sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Norma Meridionale on Saturday, August 9th, 2025, at Madison Village, Stoney Creek, formerly known as Clarion Nursing Home, in her 103rd year.
Born in Vittorito, L’Aquila, Italy on December 21, 1922, Norma is now reunited with her cherished husband Giuseppe Meridionale. Predeceased by her parents Valentino and Giuseppina (nee Battistone) Lombardi. Loving sister to the late Concettina and the late Marco Onofri, the late Antonio and the late Giovanna Lombardi, the late Aurora and the late Fernando Colangelo, the late Ortenzio and the late Caterina Lombardi, the late Onelia and the late Pineto Lucci. Norma will be sadly missed by her many nieces and nephews in Canada and Italy.
A special heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Jason Profetto pre-long term care and to Dr. Ralph Profetto for the long-term care at Madison Village. A sincere thank you to the wonderful staff at Madison Village Stoney Creek over the past 3 years and the staff at Amica Stoney Creek where Norma was an independent living resident for 3 years prior to long-term care.
Norma will be fondly remembered for her loving heart and kind generosity. She loved having family and friends over for dinner. Her hospitality was exceptional. Norma worked several jobs over the years, including being a co-owner of a fabric textile store with her sister Onelia and was an employee of Coppley with 15 years of service prior to retirement.
She had a passion for cooking, making homemade pasta dishes and baking Italian cookies, bread, and pizza. Norma enjoyed going to Italy every year during summer vacation to visit family. She also enjoyed watching Italian soccer games, the Toronto Maple Leafs, the Hamilton Tiger Cats, and playing cards with her circle of close friends. Norma also loved to sew and it became one of her favorite hobbies.
Visitation will be held at Friscolanti Funeral Chapel, 43 Barton Street East, on Friday, August 15th, from 10 am to 12 noon. A Funeral Service begins at 12:00 p.m. A Private entombment will take place at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, in Burlington.
In lieu of flowers, donations made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated.
We were blessed with your love, kindness, and great words of wisdom.
Pina, Elaine, Tony, Alex, Caroline, Jessica, Guido, Marisa, Branden, Alessio & Giulia will miss you very much Zia Norma.
