LORUSSO, Domenico Lorusso
June 14, 1940 - January 13, 2026
With heavy hearts and profound love, we share the passing of Domenico Lorusso, who left this world peacefully on January 13, 2026 at the age of 85. Domenico was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother whose love and presence will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew him.
Born on June 14, 1940, in Altamura, Bari, Italy, to the late Pasquale Lorusso and the late Chiara Grieco, Domenico grew up with a strong sense of family, faith, and tradition. More than 50 years ago, he followed his parents and siblings to Canada to build a brighter future. With courage and determination, he created a life filled with opportunity, love, and lasting memories for his wife and children.
Domenico’s greatest joy was his family. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 62 years, Angela (Mongiello), and their children Clara (Tom), Rosa (Luis), Pasquale (Martha), Nino (April), Maria (Robert), and Elisabetta (George). He was a proud nonno to 15 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren, each of whom brought him immense pride and happiness.
He will be lovingly remembered by his brothers Angelo (Teresa) and Cosimo (Francesca) and sister Carmela Nencioli (Renzo), and forever reunited in spirit with his late siblings Francesco (Maria), Maria Giordano (Michele), Giuseppe (Carmela), and Antonio (Anna).
Domenico’s roots ran deep in the community. As a longtime member of the Oshawa Italian Recreation Club, his Friday night card games and gatherings were filled with laughter, friendship, and connection. His life was a beautiful balance of hard work, family devotion, and the joy of simple moments together.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Domenico’s life at Oshawa Funeral Home, 124 King Street East, Oshawa on Tuesday, January 20, 2026 from 4:00–8:00 pm. A Funeral Mass wi ll be held on Wednesday, January 21, 2026 at 11:00am at St. Mary of the People Church, with interment to follow at Resurrection Cemetery.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to the “Purple” Palliative Care Team at Lakeridge Health Oshawa including Dr. Popovic and the incredible staff on the “care floor unit”, for their compassion and care.
