WILLETT, Lourdes Willett

Willett LourdesWILLETT, Lourdes  – Somewhere over the rainbow, way up high, Lourdes has found her star.

She was welcomed by her heavenly father on February 15, 2024, and leaves behind her beloved husband, Don; and her fur baby, Nikki.

Lourdes, will be sadly remembered by her siblings, Maria Vinette, Joao Tavares, Maria Do Rosario, Jose Tavares, Maria Do Carmo Tavres, Maria De Espirito, Ines Rafael and Filomana; and sister-in-law, Maria do Carmo; nephews, Robert, Frank, John, Bill, David, Brenda; nieces, Christine, Sarah and Chrystal; great-niece, Daya; and (deceased) Myna.

Also sadly remembered by her cousins, Bill and Linda; and her friends, Norborto and Betty, Ron, Larry, Diana, and Howard.

Predeceased by her sister, Maria Jose; and her brother, Louis Tavares.

Lourdes worked at Peel Manor just a couple of months shy of 25 years.

Lourdes was diagnosed with bipolar, so at times was very difficult to be around. I feel it led to her to have Alzheimer’s at 55. She managed to work until 65; we went to Portugal, Mexico, Europe, Russia and Scandinavian countries.

She will be greeted at the pearly gates by her fur babies, Mickey, Sweetpea, Tommy and Thomas; they will welcome her warmly and take her home.

I would like to thank Jenny Carr of Mount Sinai, the Alzheimer’s Society of Peel past and present, who have been an enormous help over the years.

Most of all, I wish to thank the staff of Dufferin Oaks Nursing Home in Shelburne, you are simply the best in caring for Lourdes over the years.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.

Memorial donations to the Alzheimer’s Society of Peel or to the Humane Society would be greatly appreciated.
