LYON, Barbara “Lynn” Lyon

Born in Oshawa, and a long time resident of Whitby/Oshawa and former employee of the Oshawa Public Utilities Commission spanning more than 40 years.

Passed away peacefully, with family by her side, at Hillsdale Estates, Oshawa on Monday, February 9th, 2026, in her 83rd year.

Beloved wife of the late Philip Norman Lyon of Oshawa for over 56 years. Loving mother of Sandra (Barry) Rossiter and Philip (Anita) Lyon. Devoted grandmother of Sydney (Malcolm) Dinovitzer, Lauren Rossiter (Riley Hathaway), and Corinna and Aaron Lyon. Treasured sister of James (Joanne) Powell, and dear aunt to Patricia and David Powell, and grand-niece Kathleen Powell. Cherished daughter of the late Lilian Constance and Alymer (Ren) Powell of Powell Drug Store, Oshawa. Much loved and admired by extended family and friends.

In addition to her absolute devotion to her family, Lynn will be lovingly remembered for her kind, gentle, and patient nature, her compassion toward friends, neighbours, and co-workers, her strength completing the daily farm chores, her quiet wit, and sage advice. Her life-long passion for horses was well known to all who knew her. Among her many joys, Lynn was most proud of the accomplishments of her children and grandchildren. She will be deeply missed.

The family extends special thanks to the staff on Maple Grove at Hillsdale Estates and to Lynn’s PSW companion, Teisha, for the care and love extended to Lynn over the years.

Per Lynn’s wishes, cremation has already taken place. A public service will be held at the graveside (located west of the mausoleum) at Oshawa Union Cemetery, 760 King St. W. (at Thornton Rd.), Oshawa, in the spring.
