LYON, Vasilina Phyllis Lyon (née Ivanoff)

A resident of Chatham and formerly of Grand Bend, Phyllis Lyon passed away peacefully at Riverview Gardens on June 2, 2025, at the age of 87.

Born in Kayville, Saskatchewan, Phyllis was the daughter of the late John and Annie (née Danchuk) Ivanoff. She is now reunited with her loving husband, Peter “Pat” Lyon.

Phyllis was a devoted mother to Sandra Rogers (Jim) and the late Marie Rogers. Cherished grandmother to Kellie Lewis (Ryan), Candace Naundorf (Doug), Melanie Rogers-Cooper (Jen), and the late Melissa Rogers. She was also an honorary grandmother to Len (Dawn), Miranda, Tai, Christopher, and Nicole, and proud great-grandmother to Mikaela, Carissa, Isabelle, Evan, Kayley, Keira, Jesse, Skyla, Jaylynn, Tristen, Rhyan, Aiden, Ayla, and Lincoln.

Phyllis led a distinguished career in education, serving as an elementary teacher, Special Education Consultant, and Principal across Windsor, Chatham-Kent, and Middlesex. Alongside her husband, she also operated Pinery Auctions in Grand Bend. She was an active member of Holy Trinity St. Paul’s Anglican Church and the Kiwanis Club of Chatham-Kent.

Family and friends will be received at McKinlay Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street, Chatham, on Monday, June 9, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at 2:30 p.m. at Pinery Cemetery, Grand Bend. Guests are invited to meet the family at the cemetery.
