MACDONALD, Larry Andrew MacDonald
October 22, 1942 - December 29, 2025It is with great sadness that the family of Larry MacDonald announce his passing on Monday December 29th at the age of 83 with family by his side.
Beloved husband of his wife of 58 years, Betty. Loving father of Heather and Kevin (Ning). Dear grandfather to Colin and Noah and Great-grandfather (aka Papa) to Atticus. Brother of Brian, Jack (Jo-Anne), Norma (Dale), Judi (George), Karen (Mike). Predeceased by his parents Marion & Norman and siblings Stanley and Hazel.
Larry was born in Cornwall, ON and moved to Oshawa as a young man where he met Betty. He worked at General Motors for his career and following retirement Betty and Larry hopped in the car and did a North American tour. He was always proud to say βhe has never worked in this centuryβ.
He was an active resident at Wilmot Creek and could often be seen biking around the community. There werenβt many activities/clubs he didnβt try over the years. Every morning, he was down at the gym to start the day. He was a 20 plus year volunteer with Meals on Wheels.
Larry was a talented artist whose paintings and wood carvings will be treasured by his family for years to come. He loved the water; scuba diving, sailing, kayaking, swimming, fishing. Nothing matched his enjoyment of discovering and exploring new places both locally and around the world.
Above all, Larryβs family was his greatest priority. Spending time with those he loved and staying connected meant everything to him. Larry will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Wilmot Creek Wheelhouse on Wednesday January 14, 2026 from 2 β 4 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Hearth Place Cancer Support Centre would be appreciated by the family.
βWhat you leave behind is not what is engraved in stone monuments, but what is woven into the lives of others.β
