MACEACHERN, Michael MacEachern
December 20, 2025
On Saturday afternoon, 20 December 2025, after a long and courageous battle with cancer, Michael died peacefully at the Renfrew Victoria Hospital. He was a young 84 years of age.
Born in St. John’s Newfoundland, Michael was raised in North Sydney, Nova Scotia and graduated from St. Francis Xavier University. From 1961-1996 he served both overseas and across this great country as an exceptionally proud member of the RCAF. He then thoroughly enjoyed a further 17 years of work with the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission .
He dedicated 25 years of his rich long life to working with the Boy Scouts of Canada, and relished his many years of hockey, playing nets both while at university and during his early military career. He was honoured to be a former President of Saint Brigid’s Association.
Those who knew Michael know, without a shadow of a doubt, that he held his Scot heritage in the highest esteem. They likewise know of his immense pride in and love for each of his children, and also how very much he reveled in and adored every golden moment he could have with each and every one of his precious grandchildren, and more recently with his three beloved little great-grandsons.
Michael was predeceased by his parents, Daniel Joseph and Mary and his sister, Roby.
Michael was best friend, constant companion and beloved husband of Sylvia (nee Sloan) for over 59 years. He was father of Shaun MacEachern (Leora), D’Arcy MacEachern (Blanka Lawruszonis) and Christen Piroch (Joseph). He was the dearly loved grandpa (“Daddy Mac”) of Danielle MacEachern, Michael MacEachern, Mary MacEachern, Theresa Cermack (Peter), Joseph Piroch, Maura Mahoney (Patrick), Anastasia Piroch, Lauren Piroch, Andrew Piroch, Alana Piroch and Xavier Piroch, and Daddy Mac to his three dear great-grandsons Gregory, Anthony “Nino” and Dominic.
Also survived by brothers Joseph MacEachern (Anne Marie), Robert “Bobby” MacEachern and Gerald “Jerry” MacEachern), and sister Peggy McVicar (Billy), and many nieces and nephews.
