It is with heavy hearts and profound sadness, we announce the sudden passing of our beloved Fernando, who left us peacefully on July 30, 2025, at the age of 66.

Fernando was the cherished husband of Donna of forty-two years, proud father of Mark (Melanie) and Justin (Shelby), and much loved vovô to his adored grandson Luka, who will forever hold his memory in their hearts.

Fernando will now be reunited with his parents, Adelino and Maria Palmira Maciel. Dear brother and brother-in-law of Mariazinha (Mario). Fernando is survived by many extended family and friends that will miss him dearly in both Canada and in Portugal.

In honoring his memory, we remember a man who found joy in the simple things — cheering passionately for his beloved Benfica, nurturing life in his garden, sharing laughter and stories with family, and always finding a new project to keep his hands and heart busy.

His presence was steady, his love unwavering, and his spirit full of quiet strength. He leaves behind a legacy of dedication, warmth, and deep-rooted love for those lucky enough to know him. Though he may be gone from our sight, he will forever live on in our hearts and in every blooming flower, family gathering, and game-day cheer.

Visitation will be held at Friscolanti Funeral Chapel, 43 Barton St. E., on Tuesday August 5, 2025 from 2-4pm and 5-8pm. A Funeral Mass will be offered at St. Mary’s Church on Wednesday August 6, 2025 at 10am. Interment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Burlington.
