passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 17, 2025 at the Norfolk General Hospital, Simcoe. Howey MacLaren of Port Rowan in his 68th year.
Beloved husband of Susan (Swindall) MacLaren whom he married November 28, 1987. Dear brother of Lisa and Jeff Horton of Port Rowan and brother-in-law to Wendy Spietaels of Port Rowan and Ben & Dianne Swindall of Delhi and is remembered by his nieces and nephews Tyler, Nathan (Cheyenne) and Justin Horton, Brian (Dorothy) Swindall, Amy Swindall (John Demaiter), Angela Woodward, Rob Spietaels, Rebecca Swindall (Chris McIntosh), Chrissy Swindall (Mark Hubbard), Benjamin (Cheyenne) Swindall and their families.
Predeceased by his parents Alastair & Frances (Kell) MacLaren, in-laws Ernie & Barbara Swindall and brothers-in-law Wayne Swindall and Bob Spietaels.
Howey was part of Howey Hardware for most of his life having worked and then owning it for the last 10 years prior to retirement. A true Port Rowan boy, Howey was part of the community all of his life being a member of the Long Point Lions Club and Ducks Unlimited for many years and enjoyed boating, hunting and fishing and most of all entertaining family and friends with great food and drinks.
Family and friends will be received in the Jeffrey W. Glendinning Funeral Home, 36 Front Rd. Port Rowan on Saturday, September 27, 2025 from 11:00am until 12:45pm followed by the service in the Clark Chapel at 1:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Simcoe and District Humane Society or the Haldimand-Norfolk Community Hospice would be appreciated by the family. Personal condolences can be posted at www.gffh.ca
