MACOVEI, Neculai Macovei

Passed away peacefully with his loving daughter by his side on August 28, 2025, at the Ottawa General Hospital, after a long and courageous battle with heart disease.

Neculai was born on February 2, 1932, in Gugesti Husi, Romania. After graduating from university, he became a teacher and later served as the Dean of his school. Education and family were always at the heart of his life.

He met the love of his life, Elena Lovin, in Birlad, Romania. Together, they built a beautiful life and were lifelong partners, raising their two children, Florentina and Octavian.

Neculai was a determined and resilient man, dedicated to providing the very best for his family. His greatest pride was seeing Florentina and Octavian succeed, ensuring they both excelled in life and education. Together with Elena, he worked tirelessly to build a home and a future for their children.

A passionate gardener and fisherman, Neculai loved nature in all its beauty. After immigrating to Canada, he found joy in tending to his garden, continuing this passion well into his late eighties.

Anyone who knew Neculai would say he was one of the hardest-working fathers, always putting his family first.

He was predeceased by his parents, Sofica and Tudorache, his sisters Emilia and Vasilca, and his brothers Vasile and Emil. He is survived by his beloved wife Elena, his children Florentina and Octavian, his grandson Stefan Luca, and his sister Victoria.
