MAGRI , Amalia Maria Magri (née Sbrocca)
August 17, 2025
It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of our family’s matriarch, Amalia Maria Magri (née Sbrocca) on August 17, 2025, at the age of 88. Reunited with her beloved husband of 66 years, Domenico Magri. She was very proud of her three children Arthur (Jo-Anne), Susan Bertoia (Louis 2021), and Angelo (Diane).
Her grandchildren will always remember their loving and devoted grandmother: Louis (Laura) Bertoia, Beatrice (David) Costante, Domenic (Leesa) Bertoia, Stephanie Magri (Liem Pham), Erica (Brandon) Caruana, Andrew Magri (Aileen Worrall), Christopher Magri (Lindsay Paling), Christina Magri, and Robert (Kirsti) Magri. Nonna’s beloved great-grandchildren: Louis, Analisa, Giuliana, Francesco, Claudia, Adriana, Isabella, Sophia, Amalia, Domenic, Gioia, and Leah.
Amalia is reunited with her parents Sabatino (1969) and Carmela (2002) Sbrocca, and in-laws Arturo (1983) and Assunta (2002) Magri. Her loving family: Michelino (1927) Sbrocca, Nicolino (1992) (Giovanna 2017) Sbrocca, Lino (2007) (Rosaria) Sbrocca, Angelina (1961) Sbrocca, Marina (Joe 1983) Camino, Pat (2012) Sbrocca, Mike (2019) (Cheryl) Sbrocca, Luigi (2018) (Assunta) Magri, Tony Magri and Joanne (Ron) Lucas. Remembered by many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, neighbours, and all whose lives she touched.
Amalia was born in Matrice, Campobasso, Italy and immigrated to Canada in 1953 with her sister Marina and brother Pat to join their father in Windsor. She met Domenico at a wedding where they stood together in the bridal party. A mere six months later, they stood beside each other on their own wedding day and began their future and family.
Amalia traveled the world with Domenico. They frequented Naples, Florida, had multiple trips to Italy, and embarked on many religious pilgrimages—never stopping talking about her trip to The Holy Land.
A faithful servant of St. Patrick’s Parish, Amalia was a member of the Altar Society and active at many church functions. She always carried her rosary and never let anyone leave without making the sign of the cross.
Sunday lunches at her home were her favorite. Whether it was a few or a crowd, Amalia loved every minute. Her homemade sauce and pasta bonded generations together in laughter and love. As Mom always said, “E tutto finito!” – except she will always live on in the cherished memories we hold in our hearts.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to The Autism Ontario West Region – Es or the Heart and Stroke Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
