JOHNSON, Malcolm Edgar – Passed away November 3, 2023, at the age of 85.
Special thanks to the staff at Hospice Wellington in Guelph for their exceptional care to Malcolm and family right until the end.
Malcolm was born September 15, 1938, in Middleton, Nova Scotia.
He graduated from Saint Mary’s University, Halifax, with a degree in political science and married Sharon Colley in 1965 at the Cornwallis Street Baptist Church, Halifax.
Malcolm began his journalism career at the Chronicle Herald in Halifax then transferred to the Toronto Star, where he worked as a reporter and editor. In 1999, he retired and moved, with his wife, to Guelph.

Malcom was also an avid sports fan, especially tennis and golf, and mapped the time of year by the current tournament being played. Malcolm is survived by his wife, Sharon; daughter, Kimberley; brother, Carl; sisters-in-law, Carol and Helen; and multiple nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his mother, Beatrice; father, Freeman; son, Jeffrey; sisters, Trisha and Barbara; and brothers, Doug and Alden.
A family burial will be held at York Cemetery, 160 Beecroft Road, Toronto, on November 10th, at 1:30 p.m.
The family has requested donations be made to Hospice Wellington and Hemophilia Ontario.
