BUXTON, Margaret Gladys (BANNISTER) Buxton – Obituary

BUXTON, Margaret Gladys (née BANNISTER)  –   Passed away peacefully in her 91st year on Tuesday, October 6, 2015 after a brief hospice stay.

Beloved wife of Harry for almost 67 years, who predeceased her in 2011.

Much loved mother of Barbara, Janet, Philip, Andrew, Frances, Louise, Helen (deceased 2006),

Susan and Sylvia. Grandmother to 29 grandchildren and great-grandmother to 24 great-grandchildren. Margaret was an active volunteer in church and local activities, including the IODE and the Oakville Historical Society, the latter where she served for many years as its Archivist.

She was awarded the Lieutenant Governor’s Ontario Heritage Award recognizing her sustained volunteer contributions over a period of over 25 years.

Margaret was a long-standing member of both the Friends of Blue Society and the Spode Society, and was renowned for her extensive collection of antique blue and white Spode china.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 10th, at 2:00 p.m. at St. Paul’s United Church, 454 Rebecca Street, Oakville, with visitation on Friday evening, October 9th from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. at Kopriva Taylor Community Funeral Home, 64 Lakeshore Road West, Oakville.

In lieu of flowers, donations towards the cure of cancers and heart disease, or to the Ian Anderson House would be sincerely appreciated.
