McLEAN, Margaret Jean “Mickie” – It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mickie McLean, who left this world peacefully, on November 6, 2023, at the age of 101, in Peterborough, Ontario.
Mickie was born on January 25, 1922 to Christine and George Hale in Toronto, Ontario.
The Hale family grew up surrounded by the love of their family and friends, and throughout their life, Mickie touched the hearts of everyone she met with her kindness, warmth, and infectious smile.
Mickie was predeceased by her beloved husband, Doug; and her siblings, George, Dorothy, Frank and John.
She will be dearly missed by her daughter, Karen; son-in-law, Jim Powell; son, Ian; and Rose Sebellin. Also, the Rummel family of British Columbia, Dave, Lisa, Chris, Tomoko and Lana, the Hale family of Toronto, Jim, Wendy, Cameron and Lauren, and Doug Hale of Montreal.
Early in her life, Mickie was known as a champion tennis player in the Town of Mount Royal and later as a keen and accomplished golfer at the Bombay Presidency Golf Club in Mumbai, Summerlea Golf Club in Montreal and the Peterborough Golf Club.
In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Toronto Star Santa Clause Fund would be appreciated.
Mickie may no longer be with us in person, but her spirit will forever live on in our hearts, reminding us of the importance of love, kindness, and compassion.
Special thanks to all the staff at Canterbury Gardens for the warm and loving care extended to Mickie throughout her extended residence there.
May Mickie rest in peace, and may her legacy continue to inspire us all.
