WATSON, Margaret –
1933 – 2023
It is with great sadness that the family of Margaret Watson announces her peaceful passing on November 3, 2023.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Howard.
Margaret is sadly missed by her two daughters, Karen (Mortimer Phills) and Miriam (Steven Christie); four grandchildren, Johnathan and Katelin Phills, and Zachary and Dylan Christie; and extended family, son, Nariman, Amanda and two granddaughters, Cheyenne and Shawnee Matinnia.
Margaret was born in Northern Ireland.
She graduated from Queen’s University, Belfast, Northern Ireland, with an Arts Degree and education qualifications. After teaching for two years in Belfast, Northern Ireland, she immigrated to Canada to teach high school in Brownlee, Saskatchewan, where she met and married Howard Watson.
When Margaret and Howard moved to Toronto, she continued teaching. She taught for many years at Northern Secondary School, Toronto District School Board, where she ended her career as Head of the Special Education Department.
After retirement, Margaret actively participated in organizations concerned about the treatment of seniors. She was also an active member of Eglinton United Church.
A Memorial Service will be held at Eglinton St. George’s United Church, 35 Lytton Blvd., Toronto, on Saturday, November 11, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. Any memorial donations should be made to a charity of your choice.
