DAHLKE, Marla Dahlke
DAHLKE, Marla –
June 19, 1951 – December 2, 2023
Marla decided to end her battle with ALS (fatal disease) with MAID.
Her loving companion, Richard D. Harris, and family and friends with her on this last leg of her journey.
She passed peacefully. Marla believed her greatest accomplishment was going to university in her thirties and graduating Dean’s Honour Roll.
An avid golfer, member of Credit Valley Golf and Country Club for 35+ years, hiker and later cyclist, she embraced the physical, enjoying of all kinds of sports.
She also loved the arts and travelling. Unfortunately, her bucket list was unfulfilled.
Throughout her varied career positions, her love of the decorating business never left her, from its inception as a child, her father’s business, Roda Wallpaper and Paint and later, Roda Wallcoverings, to her last position at Hunter Douglas. Marla met the challenge of ALS with dignity and courage.
She was an exceptionally generous person, kind and thoughtful, with a sophisticated style that she maintained throughout her entire life.
She will be missed by all. We would like to thank her caregivers, Glena, Nicola, Awet and Ayan. At Marla’s request, she has been cremated and there will be no funeral.
In lieu of flowers, a donation in her name would be greatly appreciated to ALS Canada, The Liz Ferrier Memorial Bursary at McMaster University or the Charity of Your Choice.
