MARSH, Joyce Marsh

Passed away peacefully at the Uxbridge Hospital on Friday September 19, 2025 at the age of 91 years.

Joyce’s greatest love was her family.  She will be missed tremendously by her daughter Linda Littell (Late Robert), her sons Terry Waters-Marsh (Amanda), Gary Marsh (Shelley) and daughter-on-law Cindy Marsh.  Loved by her grandchildren Christine, Amanda (Graig Evans), Jenny (Jordan Miller), Christoper (Jessica), Jordan and Holly and great grandchildren Brayden, Caylee, Ben, Jova, Jethro and Jesse Jasper.  Also remembered by her sister Jean Shmit and by her numerous relatives in South Africa, Australia and Scotland.  Also remembered fondly by her friends at Uxbridge Baptist Church, Butternut Manor and the community of Uxbridge.  Joyce is predeceased by her son Mike, her sister Elsie Pretorius and her father and mother.

Joyce loved to garden, a passion she got from her father (Frances Nicholson Kirkpatrick).  She also enjoyed reading and knitting, just like her mother (Lesby May Kirkpatrick, nee Reynolds).  Many people received hand-made sweaters, socks and afghans as gifts over the years.

Born in Johannesburg, South Africa, Joyce grew up in Northern Rhodesia in a small copper mining town.  She and her husband (late Ron), immigrated to Canada in 1954.  A bookkeeper who loved numbers, she put her talent to work at Uxbridge Baptist Church.  She also loved words, their spelling, meanings and origins so she had an enormous collection of dictionaries.

As her health declined, she moved to Butternut Manor where she was able to maintain her independence, while getting assistance when needed.  The family is very appreciative of the care and support there, as well as the excellent and compassionate care she received at Uxbridge Hospital.
