MARSHALL, Larry Wayne Marshall
December 4, 1942 - October 15, 2025
It’s with shattered hearts that we announced the passing of Larry Wayne Marshall, in his 83rd year, after a very courageous battle with an aggressive cancer.
He is survived by his childhood sweetheart & lifelong love Joan Katheleen Marshall, to whom he has been married for 65 years.
Their love began as children, who only had eyes for each other from very early on, which they continued to enjoy,Β through their entire life together!!
Together mom & dad raised 4 beautiful children who will forever cherish him.
Jamie (Barb), Karen & Shawn (Tammy) and the late Annette.
A special thank you to dad’s firstborn son, Jamie, who stepped up & took over the role of ” the man of the family.”
You should be so proud of yourself, you really made dad proud & he trusted you in a beautiful way to care for his needs through our many night shift rotations.
Karen, was the middle child & stayed by his side, every step of his difficult journey.Β On our nightshifts, we would share movie nights.Β Weak as he was, dad found the strength to hold my hand for the entire movie.Β It is a memory I will always cherish.
Dad will always hold a special place in my heart & I will never stop loving & honoring him & his memory.Β I honestly could not have had a better father, he instilled respect, sound values & a wonderful social nature in all of his children.
Shawn was the youngest child & he too honoured dad, till he drew his last breath.Β These times of crisis really provides opportunities to show our love right up to the end & you should be proud little brother! You & Tammy raised kids that ALL made sure to visit dad lots & brought love to each visit with them.
He is survived by his grandchildren:
Chantel Marshall
Jonathan Pickering
Keara Marshall
Jayme-Lynn Marshall
Shawna Burrows Marshall
Justin Marshall
Alyssa Mason Thibault
Courtney Mason
Kristi-Lee Marshall
Chelsea McKay Marshall
Every bond of friendship he made, was forged as if in steel.Β He talked to everybody & made friends effortlessly.Β When you went for a ride with dad, you always had to factor in the extra chat time,Β knowing that when he bumped into old work friends, mates or golf buddies, he was going to have a chat!
A special thank you to his favorite pharmacistΒ Angelo at Wellington Square IDA.Β Your hugs & warm well wishes we relayed back & forth, really helped dad & us through such a difficult ordeal.
He will also be remembered so warmly by many nephews and nieces.
At his request, there will be no funeral service & a small private affair at the graveside will be attended by his immediate family.
In lieu of flowers, anyone who wishes to support the loving care he received, can make a donation in dad’s name to Arch Hospice, who treated him respectfully & honored him until his final hour.
His family wishes to send a special thank you to his many nurses & carers at Arch, he was vocal about who his favorites were but I won’t name any one person, as you were all so wonderful!
Nina & the loving staff from Bayshore, as well as the numerous thoughtful Arch volunteers who cheered him with their visits, especially Deb. It takes a very special person to sit with a total stranger, hold his hand & tell him all the things he needed to hear, words that were too painful for the family to even speak aloud. Or Linda,Β for her weekly Friday chat dates! You are most certainly special people & our family wants you to know your kindness did not go unnoticed.
Dad called you all
“angels on earth. ”
He was a well known lifetime Millwright in Algoma Steel & will be missed by many friends & coworkers.
He was passionate about golf & enjoyed many games with his son, grandson Jonathan (Lauren) & best friend Frankie & the “golfing gang!”
Even when his body grew weak, he made his loving expressions to his family telling us how proud he was of us all & how we taught him the true meaning of love. His expressions will warm our hearts for years to come, as we each realize how special he was & that will always be a source of never ending comfort for us.
Sleep sweetly dad.
“Till we meet again!”
It was an honour to be called your children.
