MARTINAT , Edwina “Winnie” Zelina Shand Martinat (nee Stephen)

Edwina “Winnie” Zelina Shand Martinat (nee Stephen), born on September 29, 1926 in Toronto, Ontario. She was raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba. As a young woman she moved back to Toronto working as a bank teller, when she met her husband. She was a devoted wife to her late husband, Alvin Martinat, for 68 years, caring for him through his long battle with multiple sclerosis.

She was a loving mother to her four children, Scott (Ricky), Bruce (Kathy), Lorna Byers (Ed), and Eric (Robyn). She is survived by her grandchildren, Michael (Sue), Christopher (Daryl), Brittany Dube (Mathieu), and Adam. She is predeceased by her husband Alvin, her son Scott, and her granddaughter Ebony.

She found joy in animals and later in life volunteered with the Ladies Aid at Grace Lutheran Church and the local seniors center. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

Winnie passed away on July 17, 2025, at Pembroke Regional Hospital after a battle with complications due to stroke just eight weeks shy of her 99th birthday.

Visitation is being held at Zohr Family Funeral Home, Eganville July 23, 2025 from 6-8pm. Funeral Service will take place at Grace Lutheran Church, Eganville on Thursday at 11:00am followed by interment at Grace Lutheran Cemetery.
