MARTINEZ, Elsa Morena Tejada nee Martinez
September 22, 1946 - October 8, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Elsa Morena, who passed away peacefully on October 8, 2025 at the age of 79 surrounded by her loving family.
Reunited with her beloved husband Efrain Hector Tejada (2011) of 50 years. Cherished mother of Dina (late Nick Labelle), Ena (Hector Gonzalez), Elsa “Jenny” Tejada, Ivan Tejada, Roxana (late John Noade), Paula (Mark Hache) and Sandra (Alberto Somarriba). Proud Abuelita of William (Jill), Laura (Rafal), Alvaro (Natasha), Ivan Jr., Adriana, Adrian and Andrew. Treasured great grandma of Ryker, Audrey and Adela. Predeceased by her parents Antonio and Paula Martinez. Dear sister of Hilda, late Antonia, late Benjamin, Rolando and Tita. She will be sadly missed by many nieces and nephews in the United States and El Salvador.
Born in El Salvador, Elsa came from humble beginnings that shaped her strength, determination, compassion, and unwavering dedication to her family. Her incredible life journey took her from El Salvador to Costa Rica, and eventually to Canada, where she courageously built a beautiful life rooted in love, hard work, and faith.
Elsa’s family was, without a doubt, her greatest blessing and legacy; the heart of everything she did. She was the proud mother of seven children, the cherished grandmother to seven wonderful grandchildren, and a loving great-grandmother to three precious great-grandchildren.
Her many health issues in life only served to reveal her true character, full of grace and resilience. Her gentle spirit, selfless love, and warrior’s determination touched everyone who knew her. Elsa’s love was genuine and tangible, sewn into every outfit she made, nurtured in the growth of her many plants, and tasted in the countless delicious meals, baking, and cooking that gathered everyone around her table.
Though she has left this world, her love will continue to guide us, nurture us, and remind us of what truly matters—family, kindness, and love without limits.
