MARZINZIK, David Jacob
September 27, 1949 - November 17, 2025
It is with great love and sadness that we announce the loss of David Jacob Marzinzik, who passed away surrounded by family on November 17, 2025, at the age of 76.
Left to hold him dear to their hearts are those he loved most, including his wife of 56 years, Sandra; daughter Wendi (David); son Jason; and grandchildren Jaxon and McKenna.
David was born on September 27, 1949, in Kelowna, BC, and grew up in the close-knit community of Winfield. From a young age, he loved sports and staying active, and in high school he’d often jog all the way from Winfield to Rutland—partly to keep fit, and partly to visit the love of his life, Sandra. In the winter months, when running wasn’t an option, he’d put chains on the tires of his motorcycle and brave the cold to make the same trip. His devotion to Sandra was constant, and it shaped many of the choices he made throughout his life.
David spent eight years proudly serving in the Canadian Air Force before choosing an honourable discharge so he could be closer to family. He then built a long and hardworking career as a logger in the Central Interior, a role he carried out with dedication until his retirement.
In their later years, David and Sandra settled in West Kelowna, where they’ve lived for the past decade to be closer to their children and their grandchildren. He dedicated himself wholeheartedly to being part of their lives. Grandpa never missed a hockey game, piano recital, band concert, or Christmas concert. He was endlessly playful—spending hours swimming in Okanagan Lake, hiking, biking, teaching them about nature, and simply talking with them. He would hoist them onto his shoulders when their legs grew tired, read them stories, and snuggle them to sleep. Family meant everything to him, and he poured his heart into creating memories they will carry forever.
David and Sandra’s true sanctuary was their cabin at Charlotte Lake. Its remote wilderness, quiet beauty, and sense of freedom made it their personal paradise. His adventurous spirit was evident by the thousands of kilometres logged with Sandra on their Goldwing, backcountry snowmobiling trips in the interior mountain ranges, wandering camping trips throughout the Cariboo with his young family and journeys abroad to see what else lies out there.
Remembered for his quick wit, adventurous spirit, and unwavering commitment to family, David leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and resilience. So many great and challenging conversations. Always ready to lend a hand or share his knowledge, David was a reliable and reassuring source of strength, generous with his time and always there when he was needed. Those who knew him will miss him deeply.
